Chachani Volcano It is a volcano located 55km from the city of Arequipa, considered the mountain of over 6,000 meters with less difficulty scale in the world. Snow is very rare in the summit due to extreme atmospheric dryness.

Travel Program


Itinerary

Day 01: Arequipa 2350 m / 7,709 ft - Base Camp 5250 m / 17,224 ft
Set off from Arequipa early. Our transportation will take us up to 5000m. Here we will begin to ascend via an Incan path until reaching ‘Campo Inka’ at 5250m after approx. 2 hours trekking. We will arrive before midday and have lunch. From here there are panoramic views of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. Here, we will set up camp, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 02: Base Camp - Summit 6075 m / 19,931 ft – Arequipa
Early breakfast. The ascent begins. We will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Volcanic Mountain Range of Southern Peru and the towns of Quiscos and Uyupampa. The trek is along the northern ridge of Chachani with impressive views of the peaks of Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca, which all make up the Ampato range. We carry on along the trek until arriving at the summit formed by the principal crater of Chachani, 6000m above sea level. We will arrive at the summit before midday after 5-6 hours trekking. The return to high camp will take 1.5 hours and from here we will take our transport back to Arequipa where we will arrive before 17:30.
