The Rajucolta program has the opportunity to visit the Rajucolta Ravine and reach the lagoon of the same name, which is located at the base of one of the mountains in the Cordillera Blanca; Huantsan.
It is a beautiful and easy route that runs the length of the Rajucolta ravine until the end at the foot of the mountain.
Day 01: Huaraz - Laguna Rajucolta - Huaraz
Before we depart on our bike trip, your mountain bike guide will meet you in the hotel to give you the safety and route debriefing. We will start our 1-hour ascent via dirt road to Macashca and we will arrive at Quebrada de Rajucolta, at 4068 meters above sea level. From there, we will start the ascent in bike through a narrow valley towards Laguna Rajucolta, at 4280, m.a.s.l, at the feet of Huantsan. The beautiful landscape reveals a magnificent view of the 3rd tallest mountain in the Cordillera Blanca. Later we will begin our descent of 25 km crossing the valley towards Huaylas Pass, meanwhile passing local farms and small Andean houses. Along the route, we will pass the village of Macashca and ultimately arrive at the paved highway close to Huaraz. We will enjoy lunch together and then return to the hotel.
Before the experience, it’s important to know your aptitude to undertake an activity such as this. We are able to adjust the activity to your level so that you enjoy all that the Andes have to offer.
Riding the Inca Trail is demanding and offers a day of rigorous and technical downhill descent.
Departure in car from Huaraz at 8am to Quebrada de Rajucolta. Return at 4pm.
